A rebrand is not a new logo. It is a decision about how the company wants to be perceived — and every element of communication, from business cards to the 404 page, needs to speak with the same voice. That is why rebranding is a more expensive and complex operation than it appears, and why so many rebrands fail — not because the design was not attractive, but because it was not systematic.
Good reasons to rebrand: the company has significantly changed what it offers (you have entered new services, exited old ones), the target audience has changed (you were B2C, now you are B2B), the company has outgrown the logo you made in Word ten years ago, or there has been a merger, acquisition, or change of ownership. A bad reason: 'we are bored of the old logo' without any change in business context.

SEO and rebranding: this is the biggest technical risk. If you are changing domains, losing rankings is real — even with perfectly implemented 301 redirects. Google needs 3–6 months to re-evaluate a new domain, and up to a year for highly competitive terms. If you do not need to change the domain — do not. If you must: plan the redirect map before launch, keep all old URLs or redirect them 1:1, and notify Google Search Console of the address change.
User trust: users who know you by the old brand must immediately understand it is the same company. Communicating the change — email list, LinkedIn post, banners on the site a week before — reduces confusion. Do not do a 'silent' rebrand where everything changes one morning without any announcement. The trust you have built over years does not transfer automatically to a new visual identity.

What a good rebrand project includes: brand strategy (positioning, tone of voice, messaging), visual identity (logo system, typography, colour palette, iconography), brand guidelines document, application to all digital touchpoints (website, email, social media, documents), and a communication plan for the transition period. Design without strategy is just a redesign.
