How does a B2B website differ from a B2C one?

A B2B website differs from a B2C one in that it does not sell — it qualifies. Several people make the decision, the cycle runs for weeks or months, and the visitor comes to verify whether you are a serious partner, not to buy immediately. So a B2B site must answer three questions in the first thirty seconds: what exactly you do, for which companies, and why anyone should trust you with the work. The average B2B conversion rate in Serbia is 1–2.5%, but the value of a single enquiry is many times higher than in B2C — so optimisation pays off even at small numbers.

The most common reason a B2B site brings no enquiries is not traffic, but that the visitor does not understand within the first ten seconds what you do, for whom and what they concretely get. A simple test: ask someone unfamiliar with your business to look at the home page for ten seconds and say what you do. The answer you get is your problem — and it is usually solved with messaging and structure, not a redesign.

How do you structure a B2B site so it leads to an enquiry?

A structure that works: a homepage with a clear positioning statement and client logos; a separate page per industry or client type you address (manufacturing, logistics, IT — not one combined "Solutions" page); a page per service with the technical detail a specialist audience expects; a case study section with concrete numbers; a team page with names, roles and LinkedIn profiles (in B2B people buy from people and they check); and contact with multiple options — form, direct sales email, phone and call booking.

What content is needed for each decision stage?

Content per stage: at the awareness stage — articles explaining the problem and the options, without selling (this brings organic search and visibility in AI answers); at the consideration stage — comparisons, technical specifications, supplier selection guides, calculators; at the decision stage — case studies with measurable results, references with contacts, price ranges, and a description of the engagement process and terms. The biggest mistake on Serbian B2B sites is having only the last stage — a company page and contact — so search does not find them while the buyer is still researching.

What does a form that brings qualified leads look like?

A form that brings qualified leads has 3–5 fields: name, business email, company name and message, optionally an indicative budget or project type as a dropdown. A budget field reduces the number of enquiries but sharply raises quality and saves both sides time. Always state what happens after submission and how quickly you reply. Keep a direct email and phone number next to the form — in B2B the decision often comes from someone who will not fill in a form but will email from their business address. For more complex services, a "book a 20-minute call" option converts better than a classic form.

What does B2B SEO look like when search volume is low?

B2B SEO usually means low search volume but high intent. A query like 'ISO 27001 implementation cost' may have around thirty searches a month, but behind those clicks are directors and managers actively looking for a solution. That is why ranking first for ten such narrow queries is worth more than sitting mid-page for a generic term with a thousand searches and mixed intent. Every service and industry page should target one such query and answer it better than the competition.

How do you measure results when the sales cycle is long?

Measuring with a long sales cycle: track micro-conversions, not just signed contracts — material downloads, visits to the pricing page, repeat visits, and time on case study pages. Set these events as conversions in GA4 and track which pages trigger them. Connect the site to your CRM (at minimum, UTM parameters saved with the form) so you know which source brings enquiries that actually close. Quarterly comparison is more meaningful than monthly because the cycle runs longer. Feather Studio builds B2B websites with conversion tracking configured and quarterly reporting.
